About the Role
In order to support the development, implementation, and oversight of numerous initiatives, the Program Assistant will be based in Nairobi. This entails organizing tasks, keeping documentation, supporting budget monitoring, and guaranteeing effective communication both among team members and with stakeholders. The role is crucial to the accomplishment of initiatives that advance the objectives of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate collaboration and partnerships with stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness and support client recovery.
- Assist in advocacy efforts to raise community awareness and encourage survivors to report cases and follow up on legal proceedings.
- Contribute to the formulation and execution of policies and strategies related to survivor support, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Manage internal communication and information-sharing across departments while maintaining confidentiality to strengthen the multidisciplinary approach to service delivery.
- Help organize and conduct training sessions on trauma-informed care for partners and stakeholders to promote sensitivity within the justice system.
- Support the assessment of client needs and ensure accurate documentation of service outcomes.
- Assist in risk evaluations for aftercare clients to identify suitable social work interventions.
- Contribute to the creation of treatment and reintegration plans to ensure holistic care for clients.
- Maintain and update records of services provided in the case management system.
- Help plan and execute survivor-centered events and initiatives.
- Assist in coordinating counseling services for survivors by ensuring seamless collaboration between staff and external counselors.
- Participate in the organization’s professional development and capacity-building programs.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Senior Manager or the Kenya Field Office Country Director.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, or a related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
- At least three years of professional experience in social work or counseling for trauma survivors.
- Proven experience in networking and engaging with service providers for resource mapping.
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
- Strong report-writing and communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
- Solid understanding of trauma-focused approaches, principles, and intervention models.
- Commitment to professional ethics and adherence to social work standards.
- Experience in advocacy and social justice work.
