Ruto Criticizes Gachagua, Praises Kindiki for Taking on Tough Tasks
President William Ruto took subtle jabs at his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of being unreliable during difficult times, while commending his current deputy for stepping up to challenges.

Speaking during a rally in Maua on Wednesday, April 2, as part of his week-long tour of the Mt Kenya region, Ruto reflected on the struggles he faced in the previous administration.
Ruto on Challenges Working with Gachagua
Ruto claimed that during tough times, Gachagua was largely absent, leaving him without the necessary support to execute presidential duties effectively.
“There was someone who, when things got difficult, would say, ‘I don’t know who will help you.’ But now, I have someone helping me with the job. I really struggled before,” Ruto stated.
Despite being in Gachagua’s Mt Kenya stronghold, the president did not hold back from expressing his frustrations over their past working relationship.
Praise for Kindiki’s Leadership
In contrast, Ruto lauded Deputy President Kithure Kindiki for taking a proactive approach to handling complex issues. He specifically assigned him the task of dealing with cartels in the miraa industry, underscoring his confidence in Kindiki’s leadership.
“Now, I have someone who says, ‘Give me that tough job.’ So, I delegate it to him. As for those cartel guys in the miraa business—Mr. Deputy President, deal with them,” Ruto directed.
Kindiki, who was present at the rally, readily accepted the challenge, emphasizing his previous success in tackling complex security matters during his tenure as Interior Cabinet Secretary.https://twitter.com/i/status/1907378030005084407
