How JSA Is Promoting Diversity and Inclusion During Harmony Week

When Everyone Belongs, Everyone Thrives

The theme for Harmony Week 2025, “Everyone Belongs,” reflects Jobs and Skills Australia’s (JSA) ongoing commitment to inclusive participation and diversity in our workforce.

Unlocking the full skills potential of our nation leads to increased workforce participation, higher productivity, better wages, and improved equity. But this is only possible when everyone has the chance to contribute—and to benefit.

Harmony Week 2025 runs from Monday 17 to Sunday 23 March and is a national celebration of Australia’s cultural diversity. It brings together people from all backgrounds to promote inclusion, mutual respect, and a shared sense of belonging.

In the foreword to Better Together – The Jobs and Skills Report 2024, JSA Commissioner Professor Barney Glover AO emphasised that promoting inclusion requires extending the benefits of education, training, and employment to more Australians—especially those who have historically faced barriers to participation.

That’s why inclusive participation is a key pillar of JSA’s strategic vision. We support national initiatives to reduce labour market barriers, contribute to Closing the Gap targets, improve access for people with disabilities, and promote gender equality and safety for women.

One example of our commitment is the First Nations People Workforce Analysis, which addressed critical data gaps around education and employment outcomes. This research helps shape better policy and support for First Nations communities.

JSA is also conducting a feasibility study—Murtu Yayngiliyn (Walking Together)—to explore how best to collect data on First Nations people’s literacy, numeracy, and digital skills. Guided by a First Nations Cultural Advisory Panel, this work will help governments understand foundational skill needs and develop targeted strategies.

At JSA, we believe open dialogue is essential for shaping Australia’s current and future workforce. A truly inclusive and dynamic future can only be achieved when all Australians are empowered to take part.

Join us in celebrating Harmony Week 2025 and embracing the message that Everyone Belongs.
