The video, which has gone viral, shows the young woman, who had already received the service, sitting in the salon, visibly troubled but standing her ground as the staff demanded payment. Dressed in a black top, blue jeans, and red sandals, she sat quietly while other clients were served by hairdressers in pink branded t-shirts. Tension was high as the attendants insisted on payment before allowing her to leave.

According to Wangui, the person who shared the video, the woman had been expecting someone to send money to settle her bill before the service was completed. Unfortunately, the money did not arrive, leaving her stuck at the salon. The bill was reportedly KSh 1,000, which she could not afford at that time. In the video, she was seen attempting to stand up, but the attendants stopped her, demanding she remain seated. At one point, a staff member threatened to call security, which seemed to anger the woman. “Call security officers. I’m not paying now. I am not paying,” she defiantly responded.

Another clip showed the situation escalating, with the woman attempting to make a phone call, likely to ask for help, but the call didn’t go through. She remained in the salon from mid-morning to late evening, with no resolution in sight.

The video has generated mixed reactions on social media. Some users have criticized the woman’s actions, while others have questioned the salon’s handling of the situation. Here are some of the comments from social media users:

  • “But this video was cut short when she was trying to explain. Give us the full story.”
  • “How do you go to someone’s salon, get your hair done, and then refuse to pay?”
  • “What I normally do is take a customer’s phone, and they’ll bring the money when they come back.”
  • “The lady is begging her to pay even KSh 1000, but people can spoil your business.”

In a similar incident, a group of ladies were recently prevented from leaving Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club after failing to meet the KSh 9,000 minimum spending requirement.
