Amorim acknowledges quality gap between United and elite teams
United sit in 13th place in the Premier League with just seven matches remaining this season.
The Red Devils haven’t lifted the league trophy since the 2012-13 campaign — the last under Sir Alex Ferguson.
When asked what it would take for United to return to the top tier, Amorim responded:
“I’m not unrealistic. I understand where we are and how far we are from the best. There’s a clear gap. But as a manager, I can’t say we have forever to close it.
“Even if we bring in new players, urgency is key. We’re at a club that demands results. We need to move fast.”

Amorim: United must improve across the pitch
“There are improvements needed in all areas — from build-up play to transitions and decision-making in the final third,” Amorim told reporters.
“Every player has room to grow. They’ve shown quality at other clubs, which is why they’re here. But we need to evolve from being a counter-attacking side to one that controls the final third more often.”

Amorim believes United edged closer to scoring in derby stalemate
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Amorim said:
“I felt we had a few chances to win. We defended deep and looked for transitions. We had moments in possession, pushed them back, and looked more likely to score.
“City had more of the ball, but that’s expected. Still, I think we edged it slightly.”

Fernandes: We need to keep going after derby draw
“I wasn’t worried about our pressing. We’ve shown that we can do it against big teams,” said Fernandes.
“The issue has been against sides where we think we’re better — that’s when we drop off. The coach says if he doesn’t see us struggling, we’re not giving our all. We gave 100% today, now we must keep it up.”

Fernandes pays tribute to De Bruyne
After De Bruyne’s final Manchester derby, Fernandes said:
“He’s improved the league. Ten years is a long time. I don’t know who made the call, but he remains world-class.
“It was a pleasure to face him. He’ll be remembered not just at City, but in Premier League history.”

United fall short of league double over City
United won 2-1 at the Etihad earlier this season, but couldn’t repeat that success at Old Trafford.
The 0-0 draw marks the first scoreless Manchester derby since December 2020.

Recap: Goalless Manchester derby fails to impress
United and City played out a flat 0-0 draw that dealt a blow to City’s Champions League hopes.
Guardiola’s men remain 5th on 52 points, one behind 4th-placed Chelsea. United are still 13th with 38 points.
Neither side created much in a dull first half. After the break, City’s Marmoush forced a fine save from Onana.
United’s best chance came from Zirkzee, whose powerful half-volley drew an impressive stop from Ederson.

Fernandes: United lacked finishing edge
Speaking after the game, Fernandes told Sky Sports:
“We performed well but needed more end product. We created chances but lacked that killer instinct.
“City dominate possession, so you have to be patient in pressing. We were solid, just couldn’t finish.”
