Job Field Coordinator

This role is based at IJM’s Nairobi, Kenya office and reports to the Senior Manager of Survivor Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in the creation and strengthening of support networks with stakeholders to empower survivors on their path to restoration.
  • Participate in advocacy efforts within community justice centers to encourage survivors to report crimes and follow through with their cases.
  • Assist in the development and execution of survivor-centered policies and strategies to ensure positive outcomes while adhering to best practices.
  • Coordinate information-sharing within relevant departments while maintaining confidentiality to support a multidisciplinary service delivery approach for survivors.
  • Help plan and deliver trauma-informed care training for partners and stakeholders to promote survivor-sensitive practices within the criminal justice system.
  • Conduct needs assessments and complete aftercare success evaluations for IJM clients, ensuring strict compliance with aftercare security policies.
  • Perform risk assessments for aftercare clients to determine appropriate social work interventions.
  • Develop treatment and reintegration plans tailored to each client’s specific needs.
  • Support clients in their reintegration process upon completion of their treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation in the case management system.
  • Participate in Case Determination Panels to evaluate and guide survivor care.
  • Document survivor-related activities and interventions in designated data systems.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of survivor-focused events and initiatives.
  • Coordinate survivors, counselors, and staff to ensure timely and high-quality counseling services.
  • Engage in IJM’s professional and spiritual formation programs.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Senior Manager of Survivor Services and the Kenya Field Office Country Director.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, or a related field. A master’s degree in Social Work or a relevant discipline is an added advantage.
  • At least three (3) years of professional experience as a social worker in a reputable organization and/or providing counseling to trauma survivors.
  • Demonstrated ability to network effectively with service providers and conduct resource mapping.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • Strong report-writing abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of trauma-focused models, principles, and processes.
  • Adherence to the social work code of ethics and professional standards.
  • Strong advocacy and social justice skills.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
  • Excellent advocacy and communication skills.
