A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Uzoma Ikeuka, has attributed the ongoing wave of defections to the APC in the state to what he described as Governor Alex Otti’s alleged lack of transparency in governance.

Speaking at an APC meeting held in Umuakatawom, Obingwa, Ikeuka criticized Governor Otti for failing to account for the significant monthly federal allocations received by his administration.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for his Renewed Hope Agenda, the removal of fuel subsidy, and increased financial support to state governments, while accusing Governor Otti of poor resource management and arbitrary contract awards.
“More people are joining the APC than the ruling Labour Party in Abia because Governor Otti has not demonstrated transparency in his administration. The cost and processes behind projects are unknown. Contracts are awarded without due process. Despite social media praise, many Abians are dissatisfied,” Ikeuka stated.
He described the Labour Party as a placeholder government and asserted that the APC is strategically positioned to take over leadership in Abia during the 2027 general elections.
Ikeuka also encouraged more residents to join the APC to ensure improved governance in the state. He praised the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ben Kalu, for his efforts in rebuilding and strengthening the party in Abia.
“APC is gaining ground in Abia. Key political figures are now aligning with us, and we continue to welcome new members every day,” he added.
